Jerrin’s research focuses on understanding and interacting with the dynamic, 3D world around us, with a particular emphasis on human behavior. By combining computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning, Jerrin is exploring how to capture, perceive, and understand the 4D world from what we can see in 2D images and videos. Jerrin’s goal is to develop systems that can learn priors about the 4D world from visual data, enabling us to build more realistic and interactive virtual environments centered around human activity.

Before this, he completed his Master’s degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and his Bachelor’s degree from Vellore Institute of Technology, India where he explored diverse research topics including SLAM for UAVs, visual odometry, camera calibration, and mechanical designing and simulations for ground vehicles, UAVs and VTOLs.

]]> Jerrin Bright https://vip.uwaterloo.ca/jerrin-bright-alumni/ Tue, 09 May 2023 03:53:27 +0000 https://vip.uwaterloo.ca/?p=3339 Jerrin Bright completed his Master’s degree in the Department of Systems Design Engineering under the supervision of Prof. John Zelek. He was a member of the Sports Analytics Research Group at the Vision and Image Processing Lab. Jerrin’s primary research focused on developing robust 3D human pose estimation approaches for the quantitative analysis of baseball players. His joint work with the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB) aimed to improve player performance, enable better strategic decision-making, and aid in injury prevention using the estimated 3D poses of baseball players.

In addition, Jerrin worked on unique player identification and 2D pose estimation of players for sports including ice-hockey and soccer using low-resolution broadcast videos with occlusion and motion blur.
