Dr. Chen will discuss his current work involving sea ice detection using SAR imagery while accounting for “uncertainty”. A model based on a Bayesian CNN is proposed to classify between sea ice and water with high precision. Meanwhile, two types of uncertainties can be estimated directly, which enables us to evaluate how confident the model is when making predictions.
